Dance

Here is Sydney at her dance recital. She told me she got to be in the center because she was tall and in the back of the line.

Sunset

Here is a scene on the way back from church after VBS last night. I stopped in the middle of the road and put my emergency flashers on because there was no place to pull off on the shoulder of the road.

The Horses

I have been wanting to get some images of some horse races for some time now. It is amazing how fast these horses are running.

The Windmill

I was at a friends house tonight and he said it was time for me to add something to my site. He was tired of looking at the same old thing so here it is. I will try to do better.
I love to photograph old things that are rusted or in ruins. I love windmills as well so here was the best of both worlds- an old windmill.
I can remember visiting my grandmother in Nebraska. She had a windmill right beside her house. It was beside the windmill that I learned to whistle for the first time. I ran into the house to share with my grandma and mom my new found skill. I probably drove them crazy trying to whistle the rest of the week.
There was a long galvanized pipe that ran from the windmill to the stock tank. We would go and put our hand over the end of the pipe and let it fill up with water as the windmill would pump water. Then we would remove our hand and the water would come rushing out overflowing as we stuck our heads down in it to get a drink. It seemed that was the coldest and best water I have ever tasted.
Just a few years ago I couldn't be there but my Uncle was baptized in that stock tank by the old windmill.
By the way, this windmill is in Mercer County, KY.

John & Lisa

This was a great wedding from this past summer. John & Lisa are two of the nicest people. I loved being a part of their wedding. There was an hour between the ceremony and reception and we went to downtown Lexington and did some extra images of the two of them. Even though we had to dodge rain showers we got some great images. One of the nice things about this wedding was there were 3 other couples whose weddings I had photographed who were a part of the wedding. It is great to see couples from previous weddings. It becomes like a family reunion.

Paul & Jessica

this is paul and Jessica. They had a great wedding although we didn't get to do any of the outdoor stuff we wanted to do because of rain. It rained over 6 inches in some places in KY that night and there was a lot of flooding etc. Luckily all of the wedding events were on high ground!!
What a fun couple

I love this photo of Paul catching a nap before the wedding. No nerves for this groom!!

Fall Portrait

Heather & John called me to do some fall portraits. They ordered several enlargements and they turned out very nice. I had just photographed the wedding for Heather's brother a few weeks before.

How to treat people..

John Knowles is a fingerstyle guitarist who worked closely with Chet Atkins. He was awarded the first honorary "Certified Guitar Picker" title from Chet. He has also been inducted into the fingerpicking hall of fame under two different categories.
I called the number on his website to order a cd and when the person answered I realyzed I was talking to John Knowles himself. For some it might not rank up there with speaking to the Clapton or_____(you fill in the blank), I thought it was kinda cool to speak to Knowles directly . We spoke for several minutes and he was extremely nice and willing to talk. I felt like he would have talked for as long as I wanted but I tried to limit my time on the phone. Later I was telling some friends about our conversation I thought to myself I should have asked him to sign the cd. So.... I call him back(I am 2/3 of the way to being a stalker at this point) and before I can hardly say anything he tells me how much he enjoyed our conversation from this morning. I was just totally impressed. Here is a person who has been with and is known by some of the most well known guitar players in the world and when I hung up the phone I felt like the "important person". Just goes to show what a little bit of time and kindness can do for others. It made my day. By the way, his website is www.johnknowles.com .

Calumet Farm

Just thought this was a cool image with the horses and clouds. Calumet farm is one of the most famous horse farms in the world. It is the image of what many people think Kentucky is all about.

Thanksgiving II

Just a note that you can double click on the images and view them in a larger screen.

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving we went to my Aunt and Uncle's house in SC. We had a great time there with them and my cousins. We then went to NC and spent the rest of the weekend with my Dad. The kids had a great time as we were expecting bad weather all weekend and it turned out to be very nice. They rode horses all weekend. Brady got thrown off the horse and broke his arm but he is all healed up now and it never did really bother him that much.

Halloween

A little slow getting some new stuff up so let's see if I can catch up. Stephanie and Elena went with us and this is the stop at Paula's great aunts house. Halloween is Aunt Ella Belles birthday and she is 95 years old. She is still able to take care of herself and always has cake and ice cream to eat along with the regular Halloween candy.

The Ugly Duckling

I saw this swan swimming as I was doing a senior session. I knew the senior real well so they didn't mind taking a break while I did some scenic photography.

The Basilica

Here are some images from a wedding I photographed at the Basilica in Covington KY. I was in one of the organ lofts for the second image. Before I went up the priest asked if I had insurance as they were concerned that something might get broke. After climbing the steps I decided that I needed insurance to climb the steps as they were the narrowest, steepest, thinnest steps ever. I thought if I fall I don't have to worry about going to the bottom. These steps are so narrow I will be wedged in!

Love those eyes!

kelsey

Kelsey's photo session was a lot of fun. She was so excited about her images that it made it easy to just keep taking more and more images. I am sure that her Mom is really "excited" about having to narrow her picks from so many choices. I love the image in the the top post of just her eyes.
